Computer Consulting Ethics in West Los Angeles
CPAs and lawyers both have to pass tests which include ethics in order to practice their trade. Medical doctors have to take the Hippocratic Oath. Unfortunately for small businesses and consumers an exam like this isn’t required for computer repair. Anyone can hang out a sign or put up a website for computer repair.
Paul Chernick as a student studying Computer Science at a California State University joined the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). While he was a practicing software engineer he kept his membership in the ACM and joined the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society. When he was an IT project analyst he joined the Project Management Institute (PMI). When he became a computer consultant he joined the Independent Computer Consultant Association (ICCA). All of these organizations require their applicants to agree to their code of ethics prior to becoming a member and maintain and promote these codes of ethics as long as they are members. Paul Chernick still keeps his membership in all of these organizations.
